Outside Ordinary Reality

One foot in this world, one foot in forever.

Guided by Midwife Nurse Shelli Mullins and death doula educator Erin Merelli, this immersive two-day, certificate class is for those called to the sacred work of guiding others through life’s most profound transitions - birth and death. This course is not a lecture in the hard skills of doulaship. This class is a ceremony. It is the space where transformation occurs, when veil workers learn to serve with clarity and reverence.

The Reality of Mortality

A Free Conversation for Everyone Who Will Someday Die

We prepare for everything in life—except this.

We learn to cook a meal, manage a budget, and plan for life’s big milestones… but what about death?

10/10 of us will face it, yet we avoid the conversation—leaving ourselves and our loved ones unprepared. I’ve spent years guiding people through this transition, training thousands of death doulas along the way, and speaking on platforms like TEDxMile High,PBS, Forbes and more. And yet, one of the most common things I hear is:

💬 “I wish I had known this sooner.”

Testimonials

  • Erin, you are so warm and inviting. You set a strong tone for this industry and I'm so glad I did this class in-person because a lot of the nuance and healing would be hard to get online and without community. I am in awe of everyone in attendance turning their pain into power.

  • Thanks so much for our training. The only critique I have is that I just want more I left feeling full and satisfied for the moment, and also wanting more.

  • I really enjoyed the workshop and everything you shared with us! Learning more about the funeral industry and burial options was incredibly eye-opening and super interesting to me. I also really loved the whole concept of Legacy doulaship and feel like that could be a lovely intersection of some of my other seemingly random passions, so thank you SO SO MUCH for sharing your wisdom and experience with us. It is SO needed!

  • "I am such a huge fan of your work. I am rooting for you big time with this new step in your career and calling in death work. Your work resonates with me deeply and I wish you could feel the profound amount of respect and appreciation I have for what you are doing. I feel like death is such a taboo topic in our culture. And I feel like we often sequester the acknowledgement of it to hospice, funerals, and grief counseling"

Emotionally, I was not prepare for how emotional I would be. It was lovely that it was welcomed and I let it flow through me. It was what I needed after a challenging summer."

By helping people confront mortality, you offer them tools to live more fully, love more deeply, and leave this world in a way that reflects who they truly are. Your work ripples outward, reminding us that death is not the opposite of life but an integral part of it—a sacred moment to be met with care and meaning."
